I recently came across a cool tool from Microsoft called Phone Data Manager which is a free download from here although in BETA. With mobile phones a constant 24x7 companion to us and we getting used to it like anything including saving confidential information and contact numbers, there is a dire need for a reliable backup of the same.

This service from Microsoft offers to fill this gap. The following two ways of backup are provided by the service:

• Contacts in the phonebook are backed up to your associated Windows Live account.
• Media files and other contents are backed up to your local computer.

The tool communicates with your PC (and hence the Internet) through a USB data cable or BlueTooth. I thought of sharing this tool with other readers as it would be an inevitable component for everyone to safeguard their data.
